About the event
The inaugural Oceanside Culture Festival debuts this fall in a virtual format. In 2017, downtown Oceanside was designated as one of the 14 inaugural California Cultural Districts and this festival will celebrate what makes Oceanside original, active, and eclectic.
Oceanside Culture Festival will be streamed online on Saturday-Sunday, October 17-18, 2020. The event will feature performances by Watkins Family Hour, Dead Feather Moon, and Shane Hall recorded in the historic Brooks Theater, as well as video highlights from Oceanside’s musicians and artists, arts and culture organizations, museums and culinary scene. Sponsored by Visit Oceanside and hosted by the Oceanside, CA, Cultural District (OCCD).
The festival will also feature videos from Cadence Dance Project, Cupstacking sport (invented in Oceanside), Fil-Am Cultural Organization, Hill Street Country Club/LinkSoul, Noche Mexicana, Oceanside High School’s show choir, Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside Theatre Company, Pride by the Beach, Samoan Cultural Celebration, Visit Oceanside’s Cooking Show Series featuring local chefs and restaurants, and more local and regional artists and organizations.
This event is being hosted by the OCCD steering committee, title sponsorship is by Visit Oceanside, and produced by Becky Goodman (TenPints Entertainment, Carlsbad Music Festival), Steve Kader (Adams Avenue Street Fair/Adams Avenue Unplugged), and Lou Niles (Oceanside International Film Festival, In Your Neighborhood, 91X).

The inaugural Oceanside Culture Festival was postponed in light of COVID-19 restrictions. Festival producers are working with the Cultural District Steering Committee to create a virtual event within restrictions to fulfill our original goal of boosting economic activity and highlighting what makes Oceanside unique. The Virtual Oceanside Culture Festival will include live streamed performances with a live MC as well as recorded content. It will feature local musicians and performers at some of our OCCD venues and businesses.
Marketing efforts will reach thousands of people in San Diego County and surrounding counties.
